Highlights Of Our Old Faithful Tour

Every year, more than four million people come to Yellowstone National Park. Many of them come specifically to see Yellowstone’s most well-known geothermal feature: Old Faithful. At Scenic Safaris, we offer year-round guided tours throughout Yellowstone National Park. Here are just a few of the favorite sites you’ll see on our Old Faithful Snow Coach Tour.

Moose Falls

This 30-foot plunge waterfall is a favorite among park visitors. Although a 30-foot drop is pretty small as far as waterfalls are concerned, the plunging water can generate an incredible mist. While here, you should also be on the lookout for moose in the area since it was their abundant presence that earned these falls, on Crawfish Creek, their name.

Lewis Falls

Like Moose Falls, the water along Lewis Falls drops approximately 30 feet in elevation. However, since Lewis Falls cascades as opposed to plunging as a waterfall, the effect is much different. Stopping at both waterfalls on the way to Old Faithful highlights the distinct beauty and variety of Yellowstone’s natural features.

West Thumb Geyser Basin

The largest geyser basin along the shores of Yellowstone Lake, West Thumb Geyser Basin is about the same size as Oregon’s Crater Lake. During the winter, Yellowstone Lake freezes over completely. Most of the ice on the lake is close to three feet thick. But in the West Thumb Geyser Basin, the intense heat of the underwater hydrothermal features can keep ice from forming above them, forming small melt holes in the lake.

Old Faithful

Old Faithful is so popular, that the National Park Service offers livestream viewing of the geyser 24-hours a day. Given the widespread appeal of Old Faithful, there is nearly always a crowd at the site during the summer months. During the winter months, however, the road to Old Faithful is buried deep beneath the snow. Our luxury snow coach is able to navigate across the winter landscape easily, giving you a chance to see Old Faithful without the summer crowds.

These are just a few of the places you will have to the opportunity to stop and explore in Yellowstone on our full day Old Faithful Coach Tour. For more information or to book your guided tour with Scenic Safaris, contact us today.
