Every winter, the roads in Yellowstone National Park are closed to cars, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy and explore all that this magnificent park has to offer. The deep snow that makes car travel impossible creates some of the best snowmobiling trails in the country.

Snowmobiling in Yellowstone

Each year, Yellowstone National Park holds a lottery for the park’s Non-Commercially Guided Snowmobile Access Program. This program allows a limited number of snowmobile operators and groups to explore the park without a commercial guide. The lottery opens every September, with any remaining dates made available in November. If you are one of the lucky folks granted a permit, we have park compliant Best Available Technology (BAT) snowmobiles available at our Flagg Ranch Rental Facility. Snowmobiling Greater Yellowstone Area

If you were not able to secure a permit to snowmobile inside the park boundaries this year, don’t dismay. The greater Yellowstone and greater Jackson area abound with amazing snowmobile opportunities. From Grand Teton National Park to the Gros Ventre Wilderness, groomed trails and backcountry adventures await you.

At Scenic Safaris, we offer rentals in Alpine as well as in Jackson, Wyoming. When you rent from our Jackson location, you will need a trailer. At our Alpine location, however, you can ride the sled right out of the parking lot to nearby trailheads.
