As the Forest Service Explains, this natural area is famous for many of its geological features, “from alpine peaks to red, purple and yellow rocky slopes.” Also, “the area is home to the well-known Gros Ventre Slide National Geological Site as well as the more recently formed Crystal Slide and many others.”

An Array of Wildlife

• Other birds

Although they are shyer, and thus you are less likely to spot them, the area also boasts significant numbers of mountain lions, grizzly bears, wolves and bison. Should you be lucky enough to see them, it will likely be from a distance, but such luck is not unheard-of!

High Mountain Plant Life
